I've recently started learning to make music with ableton and was after some advice and feedback on my first track I'm working on. I'm into my tech/tech house music mainly and that's the sort of sound I've been going for.

I've only managed to get 2 minutes in and have hit a massive brick wall as to where to take it next. Every time I open up ableton I find myself just making changes to what I already have rather than trying to move on with it and take it forward, mainly because I'm stuck as to where to go next. Any advice for overcoming this?
Also it sounds pretty crap, it's got the idea I'm after but it just sounds unprofessional and pretty messy, any tips or feedback I could try to improve it?
Any help is massively appreciated!

Re: Moving forward
I am not sure what plug-ins you have but I would find a new sound to start bringing in to the mix. I would also add some rolling basslines (not sub sine wave stuff) and modulate the hell out of it. You could also change the pad halfway through (or add another), maybe make it sweep (pan) then mess with its cutoff (add a filter). I think its a great start, what you have, learn your sounds so you can tweak them. Adding some delay to your lead would also make for some fun results. Play around! have fun.

Thanks for the help, I'll give these a try, gives me something new to try as at the moment I just can't get out of the habit of making minor changes to the same stuff. When you say pad what do you refer to?sana48 wrote:I am not sure what plug-ins you have but I would find a new sound to start bringing in to the mix.
