Remember the days when you couldn't preview a sample before loading? Well that's effectively still where we are with Ableton Live's "slice to midi" feature.

yeah i do too, after i am forced to used Recycle (decades old) to do the auditioning and chopping (making a rex file). It is not possible to listen to the slices, as you would need, before spreading them across the keys.yur2die4 wrote:What exactly do you want to be different about it?
It seems a lot of people get plenty of use out of it.

Just so I am understanding you correctly... Are you saying there is a way to preview sound from one warp marker to the next only??? I have been here many years and never heard of this. I know you can turn off global quantize and be able to play the clip from any portion of the clip, but doing this does not pay any attention to where warp markers are and furthermore does not stop upon reaching next warp marker... this way does not show if the warp marker has landed on the transient properly and allows you jump in too early or too late past the transient. Playing from start of one marker to the next and stopping is a slice preview... You know of a way to do this in Live???mholloway wrote:and remember you can preview the slices with the curosr when it turns into a speaker icon at the top of the audio editor
You are correct in that what mholloway described is in no way a funtional preview/audition.Willyum wrote:Just so I am understanding you correctly...
