Ableton Live 9 Intro Master Volume Question

Post by zzyzxisinthemix » Wed May 06, 2015 10:45 pm

Hi.

I want to raise the master volume on only 2 tracks, how can I do this? I seem to only know how to raise the master volume on all the tracks.

Thanks

....you should have a mixer on each track.
If you can see it, look on the right hand side beyond the master track and theres a load of little buttons that will bring up your in/out config, sends, returns and mixing stuff. Click the mixer one and you'll get it for each track.

If for some reason you mean you want 1 fader for 2 tracks, then bring up the in/out panel (as mentioned above from the little buttons) and set it to out "sends only" then create a send that they both go to (fully) and you've got a fader for the two.

Cool thanks for the reply.

I mean, well, what I want to do is, you know how the Master Volume Bar if you scroll it up increases/decreases the volume of all the tracks? Is it possible to raise the Master Volume Bar of a specific track rather than increasing all the tracks when I use the Volume Bar? Because if I use the the individual Mixer from the individual tracks, it does raise the volume but not quite the same way as when I use the Master Volume Bar. I am wondering if there is a way to use The Master Volume Bar for a specific track other than the Mixer Track Volume raiser. If they are programmed to be the same thing, then I understand.

Not in the same way? What do you mean?

All I can think of is because of the relationship between it and the other tracks - ie too much bass so something is lost, for example.
In which case, you either put up the master and increase/decrease other tracks accordingly so everything is in the same volume ratio to each other (ie. it all sounds the same except what you want to change) Or raise particular frequencies with an eq to avoid clashing with other tracks.

Or I guess add another effect like a compressor or even an overdrive or amp with drive down...
