Several features to consider
Some thoughts:
- negative time allowed on the time-line (a pre-roll for working with video.)
- "tab-to-transient" (similar to ProTools. The audio editing would be so much more efficient if You include this + the powerful warp engine.)
- CMD+click Send = disable audio send on channel. (Would be very handy for a/b-ing)
- improved Bussing similar to ProTools. (to have another channel fader pop up where You can choose more precise Send levels and have Pre/Post included within that channel.)
- ability to choose whether to make a Mono or Stereo track (without having to use the Utility trick.)
- "Crop Clip" ("Crop Selection") hotkey.
- zooming and scrolling similar to ProTools or Logic (horizontal & vertical size adjustments - just not linked to size of Track!) also ZOOM hotkeys**
- improved delay compensation calculators and delay compensation for plugins/external devices & synths
- ability to change global tuning within Ableton.
- When Loop is enabled the selection LENGTH (displayed at bottom "Time Selection") should ALWAYS be there so when making adjustments I can verify the length without having to re-select the selection)
- improved crash detection similar to what I hear Bitwig's is like. Disable the plugin preventing an entire crash?
- ability to force MIDI notes in to one bar (Choose a selection of MIDI notes and have an option to go "Equate to one bar")
- make Utility go to -inf and not just -35dB
- more efficient Note-Taking. Perhaps similar to Device View window, but strictly for note-taking.
- ability to "Import Session Data" (such as previous Send routings, channels, media, etc.)
- something similar to Quickpunch in ProTools - Ableton is "recording" even if the Record button is not on.
- ability to playback at half-speed. (Shift+Spacebar?)
- ability to re-name a project without having to Save-As something new.
- ability to selectively import media / channels / session info in to current session WITHOUT having to drag+drop the entire session contents.
- ability to choose Pre/Post on each send on each channel
- when importing a session in to a session the Return Channels import as well
- ability to TEMPO change with Locator's instead of in Master automation lane.
- 'Preferences' needs a major overhaul - ex. video options for frame-rate, panels organized better.
- ability to choose mono/stereo/surround audio/midi tracks.
- addition of VCA tracks
- ability to "pin" certain windows or track information so it is always on-screen
- ability to have a separate window for sample library ("detach window")
- better library "memory" ex: if I am auditioning sounds and stop on one, but go to another folder to A/B, the previous selection should still be highlighted when I return to that first folder.
- when You Right-Click on a track "Cut" is the first option that comes up, and the closest to Your cursor - I can't tell You how many times I've right-clicked and accidentally clicked "Cut". Simply moving "Cut" and "Copy" around would be a big workflow improvement.
- Bypass the "Do You want to Save Changes" pop-up when You open Live in to your default template and open a new project without touching or changing anything in your start-up template.
- independent/customizable Mixer window with chain previews of inserts and sends (so that we don't have to do the .txt workaround.)
- iZotope RX series integration (be able to have the RX host on top at all times, choose the bit of audio You need to denoise/etc. and then have RX process it back in to the audio clip in arrangement.) Update Oct. 21/15 - RX IS supported if set as "Sample Editor" in "Preferences." This is a good step but implementing RX Connect would be very handy!
- Soundminer integration
- more precise controls in M4L LFO
- improved Comping tools.
- ability to create playlists for comping.
- dedicated Tempo channel
- dedicated Markers channel
- dedicated Click Track channel
- ability to "hide" channels (tracks) from Session view or Arrangement view
- "track clips match track colour" option (if colour is chosen)
- improved track (channel) scalability
- fade hotkeys for front fade, back fade, cross fade!
- I imagine in the future Live will evolve in to a more thorough audio+visual editing suite with real-time visual creations just as much as it is currently used for audio production.
Cheers!

+1 on pretty much everything there, especially the skip to transient function

Re: Several features to consider
Nice and sensible list. All of them look implementable.
Not sure about the rename without 'save as' option. What does that get us?

ah yes, that was a bit of a silly addition. I believe my thought process was more along the lines of "starting a new project, name it something quick, actually make something You like and want to just change the name without having to dive in folders and manually change it, or dive in folders to delete an old project if you Save-As."

Re: Several features to consider
One of the more thought trough feature request lists I've seen so far. I'd probably like them all.
As for Utility going to -inf I think that's should be optional and possibly better served by a fader rider effect.

Re: Several features to consider
Very good suggestions. These would make Live much more comfortable to use.

Live already adjusts to project / file name changes in the finder.titanisiam wrote:ah yes, that was a bit of a silly addition.
