Bome Midi Translator: Using a button as on/off

Post by FelixButt » Fri May 29, 2015 11:37 am

Hey guys,

so as i had mentioned in a previous post, i had some issues using my Launchpad with the APC 40 MKII on Ableton Live 9.
Somebody suggested downloading Bomes Midi Translator, which i did. Since I did not find any relevant information about this topic in the Bomes Forum, im giving it another try in this one.

So what i am trying to do is this:

I want Bome to make me use one button of the LP as an on/off button = triggering a clip by pushing the button once, stopping the clip by pushing the button twice. Is there any way this is possible ? If yes, how ?

Have you already tried adjusting clip properties? Launch settings?

13.2 "Toggle" mode?

Bomes MT is a very powerful tool and I would definitly suggest to look into it. It will make things possible that otherwise only scripting and making your own M4L devices could, while being significantly easier to learn.

That all said: I don't thing Bomes MT is the best tool for this job, but clyphx is.

In clyphx you can assign Midi buttons to trigger a chain of events on release then you did when pressing.

And both: starting a clip and stopping a clip are functions that would be available to assign to the different states.

Look into the manual for how to do it.
Clyphx is free and 8) every Live user should have it installed

I would call that a very happy accident. If you spend just a little time with it and are open to a little programmers logic ("if-then", "go to" etc) you will be making your own control surfaces in no time with almost magic capabilities without any real programming knowledge.

It does all the heavy lifting for you, you just have to tell it what to lift 8)
