Ableton Tutorial: Coding a Custom Lessons Panel

Post by JoshuaCasper » Tue Jun 02, 2015 5:49 pm

You may have noticed that when you install a Pack from Ableton or one of their certified affiliates a Lessons Panel automatically opens up in the far right panel at first launch. There isn’t always an actually lesson in there. Sometimes it’s just information about the pack and links that might be useful to the end users.

You can also access these lessons by going to View and clicking Help View.

That will make that panel on the right side open up. There will be some basic information, but if you scroll to the bottom of the panel there is an option to “show all built-in lessons“. There are quite a lot that come with just the program, but if you have installed any packs from Ableton or their certified pack makers there will be many more!

I am going to show you how to make the Lessons panel pop up when someone downloads your project / pack and opens that specific project file. However, your lesson will not show up in that “show all built-in lessons” menu.
