I've been using my Push for about 18 months now, and don't think I could live without it.

I mainly use it for performing, although not like most people -- I'm mostly not firing off clips and using lots of automation, I'm playing improvisational jazz and also using it to play keyboards in a jam band. I *do* have a setup wherein I use it like most people (or at least my perception of how most people use it), partnered with a launchpad and an oxygen 25 for playing electronic sets, but I haven't gigged with that setup yet.

But that performing is a huge part of how I write/record music, which is the only reason I really chimed in here. My workflow is generally to come up with a beat, either via the drum rack (rarely) or by manipulating the craploads of drum loops that I've accumulated, then coming up with a bass line. There's no better interface for experimenting with different ideas, or even just for getting them from your brain to a recording, than the Push. The more I "perform" with it, the easier it gets.

Then I add layers and tracks and samples as seems appropriate. So when I'm writing/recording I use the computer interface a lot, but I wouldn't be coming up with even half of the cool ideas that I do if it weren't for the note mode on the Push. IMHO it's the greatest invention in musical interfaces since... what, the saxophone? When did we last get a new musical interface?

tl:dr;

Build a loop, play over the loop, build more loops. Re-arrange, play more, build more, re-arrange until you have something beautiful.

I've got a studio full of instruments that I can play and write with, but I would give them all up for the Push if I had to.

I haven't tried the PXT yet. What are the main benefits of it?
