Looks like iTunes doesn't have much stuff from Crypt Records except they have tons of stuff. Looks like iTunes has Norton records stuff which is surprising but Crypt isn't that obscure.

Why figure if iTunes doesn't have 25k songs then it means they're garbage when plenty of top selling stuff has always had it's own share of garbage?

There are people who order a lot of stuff from the same labels/distributors and while iTunes does have a lot of cool stuff it's not the be all end all. 25,000 isn't shit.

I'm sure digitized vinyl will work as Apple's scanning is probably heuristic spectral matching or whatever but I mean at that point, who cares. If anyone is affected by their music not being support by Match then they should probably check-in.

OK, OK. I’ll concede it is possible for some people to go over 25,000 songs that aren’t on iTunes. At a generous average of 10 songs per album that’s still 2,500 albums. Of all greatness? I doubt it. Digital hording comes to mind.

Compilations, yo. They have 20 plus songs and some of those labels specialize in compilations. But I'll stop there.

I’m working on digitizing a couple drawers of CDs and coming across some compilation CDs I’m just scratching my head about. I have no idea what tracks I bought them for and haven’t listened to them in well over a decade. I was never an old school DJ with crate digging cred. This is from back before there were songs available on the Internet and you just bought CDs for maybe a song or hoped for the best based on a label. With some reluctance I think those are just going straight to the recycle bin. I don’t have the patience to figure why I bought them and I already have enough “great” music that I’m not listening to.

I have a bunch of old Dj mix CDs like that, maybe cool back in the day but now I'm not sure I want every track on there in my digital collection. Still, hard breaking up the whole mix.

Nothing makes me more :x than a bunch of glass rings on a table surface surrounding the drink coasters. How fucking lazy/inconsiderate can somebody be? FFS. :x

The whole Match discussion is reminding me I really need to cleanup my HD storage. Do I really need several 50 Cent albums I never listen to taking up drive space? With Match I can at least delete them off my drive but they’ll be backed up with Match. I’m nowhere near 25,000 tracks with or without being available on iTunes, but I’m hurting for space on my iPod since I sync my entire library. I’ll be fucked when my 160GB classic dies since Apple stopped making them. :x

I'd be more concerned how 50 Cent would be influencing the 'recommended/music preferences' algorithm than space

Who knows what other shit will come up on your personal radio because you have 'I Mumbled My Way To The Top' in your library?

The irony is now that I’m getting older I find myself buying music I thought was shit when I was younger (Beatles, Rolling Stones) and the music I thought was amazing when I was younger I now think is shit (95% of all 90’s dance music).

And why is it that only Rap producers up to the late 90’s had access to low end frequencies? :x

That would explain why Apple’s radio based on artist is abso-crap. Maybe the first 10 songs are similar but then it goes off the rails and spits out songs that are in no way related beyond also being available on iTunes. :x

Let’s hope some vast improvements to that happen with the new launch tomorrow.

:D

I was checking out a podcaster’s iTunes page that I guess is a new thing they are slowly rolling out. It’s sort of like a one stop shop for anything you have available on iTunes – podcast, music, movies, ebooks, apps. As the owner of the page you can also recommend anything else available on iTunes. I’m curious to see how this might be implemented with Connect. Also since it is Apple there is some kind of approval process so you can’t just go off and recommend 10 movies and then alter that list every 10 minutes like every other social network.

There’s a good percentage of my library that falls under “DJing wedding/birthday/bar/3-day-weekend/pool party”. :x

I'm pretty sure 'It's Your Birthday' and 'Magic Stick' would have cost you between $1.98 and $2.38... After that you'd have had the whole catalog :x

The last person I followed on Twitter years ago was former SF mayor and current CA lieutenant governor Gavin Newsom because I believe he is in fact Batman.
