Posted this on the unofficial Wishlist and the beta forum but never here.
ok so the Hardware cannot be changed but I have a potential Software solution further down the page.
I find it extremely difficult to match a tempo by mashing on the (very spongey feeling) Tap Tempo button. This style of button, which seems to be on a sort of rubber ball socket in the centre, is totally inadequate to capture tempo by tapping.
The area covered by the surface (visible) button is larger than the rubber switch underneath so it creates a rocking motion.
Is it like this?

or
*SOLUTION*
- The Tap Tempo button is a toggle and temporarily takes over the 64 playable pads.
- There you can tap your tempo out on any of the buttons until you're happy.
- Then press the Tap Tempo button again to toggle this mode OFF
As I said previously this is a software design change so it could be made an option maybe.
cheers

Just use a heavy object to smash that button to the beat. A wooden stick for example, works for me.

Push is sturdy but dropping a toaster on it might reduce it's longevity.

Your problem starts with that word 'tap'.
You need to understand that rhythm comes from your body. Start by rocking your hips. Then let the Kundalini energy slowly build up, moving along your spine, relaxing your body, letting you head rock on your shoulders, and then letting the energy travel down your arms and your hands. Then let the energy flow down to the Push, BAM BAM BAM BAM.
It will also add drama to your live shows.

This is not Shotokan Karate dagnabbit. I left my ch'i along with my wallet in el segundo.
All I would like is limp noodle yet accurate and not elbow drop from the top rope inaccurate beat measure deployment. Is that too much to ask for?

To continue the general japery here's an image to illustrate the undesired Top Rope Tap Tempo Method.

Btw, i didn't know people even used the tap function at all. Guess everyone knows at what bpm they want to play, and tapping is not exactly accurate.

It is strange isn't it? and yet they dedicate a whole button to it but not one for nudge Tempo, arrangement Record, Back2Arrangement, or re-enable Automation. O.o
Strange times we are living in.

yeah, but then there would be a whole bunch of threads about incompatibility and 2 bit midgets vs 64 bit... the constant Midget vs. Dwarf threads and arguments about which skin looks best... the whole thing would be a huge mess.
it would be totally easier to make a tap tempo button that sucks 50-75% less than the current one.
