MIDI Assignable Grid

Post by Statwerk » Fri Jul 31, 2015 10:36 am

Posted earlier on this topic but received no feedback.

Was attempting to use Novation Launch Pad S but cannot get that to work.

Need to assign minimum of 64 pads to midi functions. Dividing grid into two horizontal sections with four rows each and assigning pads within columns to effects racks so that I can both select a given effect rack with the push of a button (putting macro knobs in focus for my controller), and turning entire effect on or off so that I can easily invoke an effect at any point in loop. For example, I might have a vocal clip and want to apply delay strategically at the end of certain words but not apply it universally through the whole clip. With this, I would be able to turn the delay on or off any time I wish with the push of a button and have three other effects that I can toggle in the same way.

Could be an extremely powerful tool.

So you want to be able to assign the buttons to effects and control what they're mapped to and how each button behaves, including whether it's a momentary or toggle action, the minimum and maximum values to be set and even to have a glide between these values for a filter sweep type effect?

Your problem is that Novation dropped Automap support after the original Launchpad.

Used to in User 2 mode you could freely assign midi messages to the pads. I don't think that's possible anymore. I don't know what User 2 does nowadays, since the button is still there ( I don't have one myself).

The very useful LPC2 script from NativeKontrol has a device mode, maybe that can help you some.

ahhhh, ... so that is the problem.

Thanks for confirming that I am not insane -- that there is a real, systematic issue at hand.

Turn the MIDI remote input and output on in your preferences, there's no issue with Automap they aren't connected...

hi,

you should take a look at midi remote scripts such as launchpad95 http://motscousus.com/stuff/2011-07_Nov ... e_Scripts/

or try to write your own.

Regards.
