If my posts stop after today
If my posts stop after today
It’s because I went to see Straight Out of Compton tonight and became part of a growing trend of theater shootings. Cupertino will make the news for something other than Apple.

I'd say live on the edge and just venture on down to Watts and watch it in one of those stank theaters on S. Central.beats me wrote:It’s because I went to see Straight Out of Compton tonight and became part of a growing trend of theater shootings. Cupertino will make the news for something other than Apple.

A friend of a friend of a friend's buddy's cousin slipped a hidden remote control boom box loaded up with some Van Halen into the Oakland AMC Bay Street showing this evening. At approx. the 10:15 mark, the crowd will be treated to a wonderfully loud dishing of "Eruption" and "Mean Streets".

Meh....we opted to hit the Stadium 12 out in Lodi to see "Straight Outta Stockton" instead....a lighthearted comedy about a tight-knit group of migrant produce packers who parlayed an accidental invention of Rhubarbcicles into the Edible Arrangements enterprise we know of today. Five thumbs and an index finger up!!

In my kitchen the french existentialist drama "Straight Outta Milk" was playing this morning.
It sucked and made everything, including the coffee bitter and dark
Damn I hate indy films sometimes

Good flick. I was never a big NWA fan and was in my metal/goth phase when they were at their peak but I was still aware of them. So I learned a lot of history I wasn’t really aware of. I was surprised how many of the actors looked a lot like the people they were playing and in a way it was almost like the Avengers of gangster rap with the cameos of other rappers and DJs that weren’t in NWA. It actually inspired me to want to work on music but as it was late when I got home and I had to get up early, that didn’t happen.
The following night I saw an Eagles cover band with a crowd of about 3,000. They really nailed the sound.
It was a big retro music weekend.

One thing I found interesting, although unsurprising, even though they were part of the start of gangster rap, or reality rap as they called it, they pretty much moved the fuck away from that lifestyle with the success of the first album and it appears Dr. Dre and Ice Cube were never part of that lifestyle to begin with. Yet for decades they were/are still rapping about how gangster they are.

I get Muchos Lols over these two mugs on the cover of RS - check out the faux-sneer and phoney "yeah I gots street-cred muthafugga" rubbish going on. These buffoons are about as gangsta as R2D2.
