midi mapping not working but midi learn in vst does. HELP

hi everyone, seems i've run in to a headache again. I did a pc format and reinstalled al my *$#*. Now something strange with midi is happening. When i turn a knob on my m-audio oxygen 49 (silver)(have newest drives). i see the yellow light coming on in the top right corner of ableton indicating it is reading midi. I am also able to assign knobs to virtual knobs in vsti's using the vsti's midi learn function.

What doesnt work is the basic midi mapping in ableton. It just doest register anything. the yellow light comes on, and thats it. I press midi mapping. turn the knob in the vsti. that parameter comes on next to the vsti box at the bottem of ableton. if i then select that with midi mapping open and turn the knob. nothing happens.

anyone have any idea's?

strange thing btw. oxygen is registered 2 times in the midi sync tab. both of them seem to be registering the midi input and turning either of them off doesnt seem to help.

If that's the screenshot of your preferences you need to turn the remote on (button on the right). The "track" input will pick up keys to play or record instruments but to trigger loops and work CC's you need "remote".

Lol been working with ableton for 3 years, never had to deal with that. What a noob problem.
