Switching tracks with MIDI controller

Hi everybody,
I bought Alesis Vortex Wirelles keyboard, and would need to switch instruments via MIDI.

My current setup in Ableton is:

- MIDI track with Kontakt player
- other MIDI track with instrument rack, used to switch Kontakt Patches
- other MIDI track used to send MIDI over to Mainstage
- audio track to get Audio back from Mainstage via Soundflower
- one more track with clips set to trigger program change to Mainstage to switch instruments there

I need to be able to switch between the various instruments from my MIDI controller (in this case the Vortex). So basically when I press a pad on the Vortex, I need:

- arm one track, unarm averything else, play specific clip

or in some cases:

- arm multiple tracks, unarm everything else, play specific clip

Is that somehow doable in Ableton?

yes it is possible and very easy if you had an ableton push or an akai MPC40.. however, with some clever midi mapping techniques and instrument racks setup you can make this poissible with any midi controller.

Thanks for reply. PUSH is not an option for me, as I need to stay wireless with my controller (http://alesis.com/vortex). Can you be more specific about what the "clever mapping techniques" are?

For mapping varies functions in different combinations to Midi, like you want to do, I would definitely use clyphx.
