Midi map range question

Post by supermows » Wed Sep 09, 2015 8:19 am

Hi guys,

I've been looking for this in the manual, but didn't find it. My question is: is it possible to map some parameter to a knob so the Min value starts at the middle position of the knob?.

I mean, let's say I have a parameter set to Min 0 and Max 127, but I want that the Min value starts when my knob is in the middle (so until my knob reaches the middle position, it won't do anything, and after passing the middle position it will start increasing from 0 to 1,2.3... and the knob final position would be 127)

Thanks!

EDIT: If that could be done with a Macro mapping, instead of a Midi mapping, would be ok too

Look at the MIDI mappings in the macro browser. On the far right, you'll see that each control has Min and Max values. You can limit the beginning and end values of each marco control by adjusting these values. Check out page 482 of the Ableton Live manual for more details.

Yes, but that's not exactly what I mean. For example, I want a range 0 to 127, but I want that the first half of my knob keeps at 0, and only starts increasing when that half knob round is reached... If you look at this video from 3:42, that's exactly what I need:

thanks!

Cool, doesn't work in 64bit though so if you're looking for that have a look at SMART which is part of our Modular Series....
