Set up my usb audio interface. but...?

Set up my usb audio interface. but...?

I am using live lite 9. on laptop with win 8.1

I bought a behringer umc22 audio interface, I have got it running and recording but have a couple of weird problems.

1. in Preferences the devices is not show in the Audio device section it just shows ASIO4ALL. v2, Behringer does not show at all. {there was no driver with the device and it seemed to auto install when I plugged it in.}

2. I can record my bass but it is picking up EVERY surrounding sound, e.g. if I have the TV on in the background it picks up the tv in the recording, if a car drives by it picks that up too, even though the bass is connected by a guitar cable direct to the unit.

This doesn't seem correct to me? I have no microphone plugged in at any time.

Help..!

I had hoped to play bass along to beats I made, but the extraneous noise is making it impossible..

Did you instal the software drivers that came with the interface?

If you bought the interface used, you can check the web.

Most interfaces won't work without drivers.

If you are hearing your TV, it sounds like you are mic recording your signal (maybe using the built in mic on your computer).

It's a class compliant device, there aren't any specific drivers. It probably shows as "USB Audio" in the control centre. Behringer only offers an ASIO4ALL download. This must be configured to use the umc22.

I reckon so, too.

Choose asio4all, press configure or whatever. The asio4all control box will pop up.

Click on the wrench and you'll be able to configure inputs and outputs.

Asio4all essentially bunches all your audio input and output options together. You'll see stuff for your laptop (I'm assuming it's your laptop because of the microphone picking sounds up), along with your behringer.

Click to turn off any device that is not your behringer.

Once you close that box, take a glance at the inputs/outputs buttons. It should show the same number as the number of active inputs/outputs.

It may be tempting to leave laptop I/o turned on in the ASIO configuration box. But keep in mind that it'll result in more inputs and outputs, which means there will be more guesswork involved in choosing the correct one when you Arm an audio channel for recording your Bass

Have you checked the sound settings on your laptop?

If not go to 'control panel' then 'sound' to see if your 'soundcard' playback/record settings are set to microphone or somethin else.

If it is, change the playback and record sections to your audio interface to make your audio interface the default settings.

Hopefully that should make a difference????

Good luck.
