Keep AU and VSTs in the same folder?

Hello

I'm wondering if there is a way to keep the AUs and VSTs together so I can organize them into folders by what they do? (synth, effect, sampler, etc)
I don't care whether they are AU or VST, that's bloody useless. I just want to keep all my plugins organized.

No you cant, you can organise your VST's into custom folders in the plugin directory but not AU's, unless you use Auganizer.

The issue with that program for live is it doesn't change the plugin folder but creates a new one below.

Not good for us who want things tidy.

Fuck sakes! How difficult could it be for ableton to implement a solution? It's the 100 hundred tiny inconveniences like this or not having a hot key to crop selection that slowdown workflow. I hope ableton is reading this and adding it to a list of deficiencies to patch soon.

No you cant, you can organise your VST's into custom folders in the plugin directory but not AU's, unless you use Auganizer.

The AUs are presorted according to Manufacturer though. Sorting the VST folder works, but also typically means updaters will write the new version to the base VST folder and has to be moved manually again.

What you can do right now which is actually much more powerful is to start doing your own base Live presets of all your plugins and sort these according to taste, including multiple sorting possibilities at the same time, under manufacturer or type or whatever you choose.

You make Live presets by grouping the device and optionally configure automation and macros and selecting an appropriate preset in the device. Then you save that in your own hierarchy in your user library. Grouping also means presets are loadable by Ableton Push.

If you want Ableton's ear you write support or post in Feature Wishlist. You'd be well advised to not swear if you want anyone to take your concerns seriously. That doesn't work anywhere.
