Re: iPad
This reminds me of people bashing McDonald's. And then going to Burger King haha. Or even choosing to go to something like Red Robin, which might debatably have different labor practice, and debatably have better food quality, but given the quantity they try to stuff you with is hardly any healthier.
So then of all fast food options, people will not choose McDs because the focus is always on them in docus.

iOS 9.1 release notes read like a laundry list of everything wrong with my phone right now. I don't think I've ever been able to skim the notes and KNOW I have so many of the addressed issues.
maybe it's because I typically like to wait until .1

Re: iPad
On my Boston trip my cousin snapped a bunch of pictures with his iPhone and instead of texting or emailing them to me he airdropped them to my iPhone which puts them directly in my photos library. Pretty sweet.
Although I imagine this is like Samsung’s phone bumping except we were like 10 feet from each other.

Re: iPad
Just stopped by to complain about iOS Apps.
iOS Apps are fucking way worse than regular applications on OSX or Windows for being badly thought out quickly coded money grabbers at Bargain Basement Prices™.
I'm trying to set up a way to quickly scan receipts and upload them to a spreadsheet like Google Sheets etc. Not happening, although there are a dozen apps that say they can do this, and three or so that say they can load it as text.... which turns into "OP*(YZ87hj7& ª23.78" from "walgreens total $34.98". Literally that bad, but hey only $5 to find out it doesn't work.

Apple is going to let you pay for your iTunes purchases (apps, music, movies, TV shows, books) via your carrier bill because everybody has been asking how they can get billed more by their cell carrier.
Re: iPad
I really don’t get this hyper-needy mentality.
“I preordered an [insert Apple product here] and it says it may not arrive until Monday or Tuesday. I heard they will be in stock at the store on Friday. I’m going to go to the store and if I can pick one up I’ll cancel my preorder or ship it back when it arrives.”

The new Apple TV.
To setup your Apple ID and wifi connection you just make sure the Bluetooth is on, on your iPhone, hold your iPhone close to the Apple TV and it grabs all the info. No need to type anything in.
That took me 3 attempts.
Everything after that was cumbersome (including the 3 attempts).
Swiping the controller to go through the alphabet sucks. It frequently under or over jumps what letter you want. Thankfully my universal remote still worked without having to set it back up. One click across each letter works much better (old school).
Siri lags (and is extremely limited). You can’t just click the button on the remote and yell something. You click the button, wait for the TV screen acknowledgement text, and then yell into the remote.
Nothing about the remote makes me even want to attempt to play a game.
I’m sure it will improve a lot and fairly soon but it’s really half-baked on release. The only noticeable improvement is a lot less buffering wait time when you go to stream something.
Overall

As long as it gets rid of the spinning loading wheel, I'll upgrade. Going to wait a bit on this one though, as it really doesn't add anything else for me compared to the last Apple TV.

Re: iPad
If nothing else I got the YouTube app back which they killed off years ago in the 2nd gen Apple TV.
Also if a developer makes a universal app you bought on your iPhone or iPad available on the Apple TV you won’t have to pay for it again. Funny thing is I usually don’t have much apprehension dropping up to $5 on an iOS app but the same amount on the Apple TV I think “For that price, how good could it really be?”
And again the remote as a controller is SHIT, but you can get a supported controller that is more like a console controller. I’m not motivated to do that yet.
The Netflix app is ASS. It mirrors the website so instead of having a grid to move around you have a single row you have to scroll across for days. But I heard it’s the same way on a lot of smart TVs and other streaming devices. This is a situation where you don’t want user interface continuity across all platforms.
I hope they get some good exercise apps. I hate the gym and am all about body weight/no equipment needed exercise at home.

Re: iPad
Just ordered the 64GB model. Pretty much all of my media is through iTunes (note: that's not the same thing as saying I use the iTunes Mac app much; I don't) so I'm embedded in the ecosystem and from the reviews I've read it's people like me who will enjoy it the most this early. Sounds like it has room to grow, but I'm stoked to see the new OS.
