After watching the Adobe Max keynote I'm hyped about the iPad Pro. It looks so fun and easy to get half the work done on the toilet.

It doesn’t have Force Touch. For me it’s too expensive to not have the latest technology. The next version will have it.

But not have whatever new technology Apple unleashes at the same time on the new iPhone. :x FUCK :x

Sounds like it has room to grow, but I'm stoked to see the new OS.

Is this your first Apple TV? Linked/synced to your iTunes library isn’t a new feature.

I don't care about the force touch, actually. For now. Specifically wise for adobe cc is enough, just drawing certain gestures to build certain elements is nice enough.

One nice thing about the new Apple TV remote is when rewinding or fast forwarding a video you can semi precision control where it lands with the touch pad instead of the frequent over or under jumping with standard buttons.

Unrelated, you can order an iPad Pro online tomorrow. Will be in stores by Friday.

Early reviews for iPad Pro summary: Expensive big iPad. About the only thing it will replace is $1,000 you had laying around. :) :x

Did I say it was a new feature? No, I own two 3rd gens.

Just got the new one and I find it better in every way. Even as annoying as typing in words for searches can be it's still better than it was with the old remote.

I read it like you just found out about the iTunes sync which isn’t unreasonable if you reread what you typed. I thought maybe the new Apple TV announcement made you go “maybe I’ll check out one of these things now”.

Both remotes suck for entering text. But with the iPhone Remote app you could enter text with the iPhone keyboard on the previous generations. Doesn’t work with the current Apple TV (yet). :x

The reviews I've read said that people who buy their content will be the most happy with it this *early*. As in people who don't aren't going to find much until a bunch of new apps and games start being released.

For those of us that rip our TV show and movie library there is the Plex app. It doesn’t demand you buy everything from iTunes to work.

IMO digital movie prices need to be cut in half a year after availability. For me there is a financial line between “would be nice to own” and “I’ll definitely rewatch that repeatedly”. About the only thing I’ll buy is SD episodes of comedy shows because those are $2 which is less than a track on Beatport and firing up some random 30 minute episode is usually satisfying.

For those with the new Apple TV, is there a way to force it to store all your content on it's own drive? So you're not always relying on buffering?

We watch everything via the Apple TV these days, since we can't understand any local channels on over the air TV and I'm not buying a ton of crap on cable I do't need (and probably can't understand). I don't mind running things through Handbrake real qiuck to convert if I need to, but having to wait for things to buffer at odd times kills it for me a little bit.

I don't know if you're responding to me but if so you seem to keep reading things into what I'm saying. Never said the Apple TV must use iTunes content. I said most of the reviews I read said that people who are already in the Apple/iTunes ecosystem will benefit the most by adopting early.

Well, come to think of it that is kind of a silly selling point. As far as media content every Apple TV has been best for those already in the Apple/iTunes ecosystem.

I don’t think you can (yet?). That really pissed me off when they removed the drive after the first gen. You shouldn’t have to rely on the internet or wifi and iTunes open on your computer to watch content.

But I could see Apple not wanting to deal with whiners and their full drive that don't do any library management. Hello, ladies and your cell phone camera.

Dude.

What they meant is that there's so little new content in the form of apps that the people who will be happiest as early adopters are those of us who have our whole libraries through iTunes.

I'll work on a fourth way to put it here in a minute.
