Installed max7, why is live9.5 still using max6?

I installed max 7, why is live 9.5 still using max 6.1?

Should I just delete the old Max6 from my application folder? (seems a bit risky)

Im running Yosemite 10.10.5 on 1 year old macbook pro

In Live's preferences, files/folder the path to the max application is not autmatically updated when you install a new version of max.

Set the path, then do a propper uninstall of max 6.
