Push 2 crashing Ableton 9.5

Post by zsklar » Tue Nov 03, 2015 4:22 pm

I am pulling my hair out at this point. Every time I start Ableton 9.5 with Push 2 on, it crashes immediately upon loading. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 9.5 with no luck. I went to device manager and Push 2 is seen just fine by my computer. I never had this issue with Push 1. The other strange thing is when I go into my midi control in preferences in Ableton, I can pull up Push 2 under control surfaces, but not under the input and output drop down. I have registered Push 2 at the Ableton site as well.

Anyone have any clue here? I am on a Windows 7 Pro desktop with 16 GB Ram.

Contact support, in the meantime try pluging Push1 to other USB port.

How on earth did you get your hands on Push 2 so quickly, and how on earth do you expect anyone here to be in the same position?

My Push 1 worked fine! It actually even upgraded the firmware I also unplugged all other controllers except Push 2 and it still crashed 9.5

I found the crash log and it's too long to post here. It's so long. I have no idea what to look for!

I've contacted Ableton tech support and got a message that it could take a few days to get back to me. I just want to get this resolved already!

I also uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for the Push 2 with no luck.

This is NUTS! I've never ran into an issue like this that I couldn't figure out.

Anyone?

I ran into problems with 9.5 when I tried to install it to a different directory than 9.2.3. Eventually I uninstalled both, cleaned the registry of anything 9.5, and then reinstalled Live 9.5. (Rebooting a lot along the process, of course).

(I kept getting the message "a serious error has occurred.. restart Ableton", and couldn't get rid of it)

I think it may have had to do with the default program being corrupted between 9.2.3 and 9.5, but I honestly don't know. In any case, 9.5 is now working, but Clyphx is toast until Stray fixes it.... :)

@zsklar Man, I am in the same exact boat with my Push 2. I have both Live 9.2.2 and 9.5 installed in different folders. They both work fine like before without a hitch when Push 2 is not connected. As soon as I connect/launch Push 2, Live 9.5 crashes and disappears!

Did you find any solution to this?

My crashes were fixed with the new beta (Live 9.5.1b1).
Everything is running smoothly now...

Live 9.5 and Push 2 had serious crashes if there was a Maschine or KK vst instance in a track.
The problem is fixed in the new beta (Live 9.5.1b1)
