Hello
me too i have a PC ; trying to install KORG M1 (under Ableton Live 9) i previously have on a mac before (running under logic) ; but Ableton doesnt find the vst despite choosing the correct folders and everything is 64 bits . i don't know what's wrong really ; as well because it's the very first vst i m installing on my PC computer / ableton live ... but i m quite sure i did everything correctly ...

Obviously you did
not do everything correctly.
Where is the VST installed?
Are there any other VSTs in that same folder that Live can find?

korg installed the folders by default on the C drive on in the program files (X86) folder ; i did put that folder name/path into ableton vst preference ; + i clicked on the rescan folder without it doing it anything . i ve changed as well the folders ; (created my own vst folder on the other computer hard drive under my document + i reinstalled korg M1 but the korg installer "forces " you to install on the C drive i think ; i tried to change it but there's no option for that showing up .. cause as i saw on that forum ;i think there might be a bug with windows ..but i m not sure really ; i ve maschine with massive on this PC ; i must try with ableton to find massive too just to check..

"program files (X86)" is the default 32-bit folder in Windows, it is probably the 32-bit version of M1 in there

My Korg M1 works just fine in Live.

Just putting the folder anywhere you want is a really bad idea.
Where are your other plugins stored?

It really doesn't matter where you put it, as long as you at least put a shortcut to it in Live's vst folder.

When I was still using Windows I had problems with VSTs when the files were not in the directory the plugin mfr expected them to be. Even if Live knew all the paths the plugins might not launch, patches and samples couldn't be found, etc.
Mac has a centralized location for plugins and I stopped losing plugins once I got a MacBook.
Whatever.
