Flickering Menus in 9.5 on OSX MBP
Flickering Menus in 9.5 on OSX MBP
Anyone else getting flickering of the screen, particularly when moving around in the menus in 9.5 on OSX El Capitan?
This is with core audio on retina mbp.
Max devices also seem to cause flickering.

I have the exact same problem since I have my new my book (+ El Capitan).
What can we do to solve this issue ? this is really troublesome.

Lol for the late response but I got in touch with Ableton and eventually rolled my os back to Yosemite, which sorted it out.
Still not tried El Cap again yet but when I do, I'll try to remember to report back.

So tried El Capitan again today and got the same flickering in the menus.
How is no one else getting this?

Not seeing that here on the latest version of OSX. Is it only in Live that this happens?

Yeah, latest vers of live.
I was in contact with supper a while back, I messaged them again following today's test. Maybe they'll have some ideas. I'll report back with anything useful

It's not a common problem. I haven't seen this on my current, but I had some other rare and heavily intermittent graphic issues on my previous MBP. Can you make a screen recording? Sounds like something support should be able to fix too, so good that you contacted them.Funkin8 wrote:So tried El Capitan again today and got the same flickering in the menus.

What model of MBP do you have and what graphics? Have you turned off app nap?

Does the problem make it to a screen recording? You can make a screen recording with Quicktime Player in OS X or use something like the demo of Screenflick.Tomas Challenger wrote:I'm having this exact prob...any recent remedies anyone might have?Funkin8 wrote:Anyone else getting flickering of the screen, particularly when moving around in the menus in 9.5 on OSX El Capitan?
Whatever the problem is it's important to make sure it's a software related problem and not hardware. I've had some issues with 2 displays on non-retina MBPs and this may be related to this. Or not.
Have you talked to support?

Did anyone ever get any answers on this?
I'm experiencing flickering in El Capitan OS dialogs (like the Live save window), and other apps (including Messages and Safari), ONLY when Ableton is running.
Live 9.7.1, OS X 10.11.6, on both a 13" retina MacBook Pro and a 5K iMac 27".
Can't seem to get a screen recording, as the screen-recorder seems to interact with whatever is going on.

Have you changed the scaling/monitor system setting on the MBP from its native setting?
Just curious...

I have. I typically have it on the "looks like 1440 x 900" setting for a little more screen real estate. But I just switched to check, and I'm still seeing the flickering at default scaling.cheekypaul wrote: Have you changed the scaling/monitor system setting on the MBP from its native setting?

Thanks for the suggestion.

And Ableton Live is scaled to 100%?benr wrote:I have. I typically have it on the "looks like 1440 x 900" setting for a little more screen real estate. Re: Flickering Menus in 9.5 on OSX MBP
Can anyone reading and/or experiencing the flickering post a short video?
If I use the highest scaled up MBPr screen option (surely a 2015 top of the range laptop should have as much screen real estate as the 2011 laptop it replaced), and then re-size the Ableton Live window, I can sometimes get a fully distorted screen (the graphics kinda go diagonal and unreadable but adjusting the window size fixes it). It's temporary, but may be related.
I don't have a screenshot (such a hypocrite!).
