Live 5.01 can't adjust midi sync

I have a Korg Electribe ES-1 synced to Live 5 (Live is master to Korg). The midi timing is off, but I can't use Live's preference to adjust the midi sync. It's midi clock, not timecode, and I've made this change, but still, nothing happens when moving the values of sync compensation up or down.

My setup is on an iBook running Mac OS 10.3.8.

I have the same setup. I found the ES1 will only stay in sync if I turn off PDC.

Then adjust the midi (not the audio) delay to about -55ms in Live and it works for me. As soon as PDC is turned on all midi sync hell breaks loose.

Delay Compensation doesn't seem to affect my setup. Sync offset doesn't work with PDC on or off.

Hi folks,

since Live 5 every MIDI device listed in Live's MIDI preferences has its own view to setup the clock format and properties like the sync delay.

Furthermore we detected that several drum machines ignore MIDI Song Position Pointer messages which can result in an off timing.
We will handle this with a new so called "Pattern mode" in the upcoming bug fix update of Live 5.0.2.
So you should try if the latest beta works better for you:

In my case, my only midi device is my Edirol UM-1 1in/1out USB interface. Very straightforward.

I do not know if my drummachine/sampler (Korg ES-1) has a problem following. Everything worked fine in every previous version of Live, so now I;m back to Live 4....bummer!

you should really try out the latest beta.
How should we fix a problem if we do not know if it fixes the problem you experiences?

The only change from Live 4 to Live 5 is that we introduced MIDI Song Position Pointer messages which was needed because the new transport behavior.

Hi Alex,

just to let you know the new Song/Pattern modes for midi-clock are SUPERB! Solved my main syncing problem with my Korg ER-1/ER-1 and Yamaha QY70.

In fact all 3 of these devices have Song and Pattern modes, and if I match the Live mode to the mode on the devices, the behaviour is EXACTLY right.

When in Song mode, the Song Position Pointer works very well on all devices, where I start in Live, the ER1/EA1/QY70 will follow exactly at the right position. Very powerful, in that I can arrange a song in Live and the 3 devices and it all stays in sync. Or I can use Pattern mode, which works brilliantly for Session mode looping.

One issue though, when in Arrange view and looping a selection, in would be really good is SPP could be sent each time the loop starts. At the moment I only get the SPP when starting (with spacebar). Is this possible?

This beta bug fix with the Song/Pattern feature seems to be working! Thanks.

But one thing I notice: the downbeat is "flammy" -- it sounds out of sync for the first hit, but then is in sync. Live 4 did not do this. There seems to be some sort of built in midi delay for the first beat, that cannot be adjusted.
