Re: Ableton LiNK is amazing.
You don't get Link as a separate piece. It is embedded into programs and apps.
Certain apps currently support it. You acquire the app, turn on Link in a shared wifi environment, and devices sync up automatically.
Each app behaves much like a clip in session view. Stays locked to tempo, and you can press play/stop at any time and it'll wait for the first beat to start. Plus you can join without stopping anything!

And what about linking to Live? That was to be a key part, but I see no mention of that yet...

That's my experience too. Did some limited testing last night with an ios app (Patterning) driving a drum rack. Dragged the tempo sliders in Patterning and Live all over the place and sync stayed solid. Link is the real deal.Pitch Black wrote:

Hi Su,
How do you get Patterning to drive drum racks. could you help me set it up please. I have Patterning, Music IO, and Ableton. Just need someone clever to tell me how to link (pardon the pun) it all together
Thanks
Re: Ableton LiNK is amazing.
First you need Live 9.5.1 beta, then you turn the ink functionality on and all your devices should be connected to the same network.greenfly wrote:su wrote:That's my experience too. In addition to what login said...
The MIDI note #s in the drum rack and in Patterning need to match. You can either change the note #s in the drum rack or in Patterning. I always use the default drum rack note #s, so I changed the Patterning note #s to match those. The other thing you need to do is set the MIDI out destination for each track in Patterning. Make sure you select the MIDI outs that correspond with your MIDI interface. In Patterning all of the MIDI settings are under File, MIDI Configuration.
