possible to "convert" with slicing presets?

Post by laurentius » Fri Dec 25, 2015 9:25 pm

Hi there,

just wanted to ask if there is a way to convert from a simpler to a drum rack using slicing presets (talking about the convert button on Push2)?
Whenever I create a drum rack by using the convert button I have a kind of "naked" drum rack without any macors and stuff.
Or maybe there is a way to import afterwards some rack settings like those macros?

Would be happy if anybody has a workaround for it.

Best,
Laurentius

No there's not...hopefully if enough people ask for it ableton will add this to an update.

Great idea!

I would love to have the four right-click convert-to-MIDI functions available on the Push 2 display when I hit the Convert button.

Would this work...? you hit the Convert button and the following options appear on softkeys:

SIMPLER (as it is currently)
DRUM RACK (as it is currently)
SLICE (Slice to new MIDI Track)
HARMONY (Convert Harmony to new MIDI Track)
MELODY (Convert Melody to new MIDI Track)
DRUMS (Convert Drums to new MIDI Track)

... if you hit SLICE another screen appears with the slicing options/presets, you adjust those with the encoders and buttons, then confirm by hitting an "OK" button.

Yeah,

I think there would be many many options to improve the workflow on the device. It's great though already but we need to talk to Ableton and show them what kind of things are really needed.

Another thing that I am longing for: Setting Warp and Transient markers via Push (and also the most common commands like "set 1.1.1 here" or "warp from here"....

This would be amazing.

There were many of us who already have drum rack presets with macros assigned to alter the sample when it's sliced.
It would be great to be able to use these macros once it is sliced,

What I would really like is a shift convert to create chains in racks!

The possibilities are countless. Right now I find Push still very limiting. Some expert moves are not accessible...
