I cant save my process because I "used" operator.. (HELP)

Post by andre-coyac » Tue Dec 29, 2015 10:53 pm

Hello everoyone.. this is my first post, so I dont know where can this post can go
Last night I saved a drum set that I made with my own hits and some that are included in Ableton. Today I opened up the file that contained a beat using that drum set that I made, a message appeared saying that the filed contained the instrument Operator, the thing is that I don't know how that happened. Now I cant save any of my proccess unless I restart and start out with a blank file.
One thing you guys should know is that I own Ableton Standard, which does not included Operator. When I was making the set I used sounds from packs that I bought and some from Ableton (some where .adg files), I used the Instrument Rack to put different sounds in one pad. So I dont know how I supposedly used Operetor if I dont even have it, hope you guys can help me,
Thanks

You can try to drag & drop the kit alone (not to load the entire project) from the location you saved it to a new midi track of a blank project.

Just locate your project in the Live library, click on the little triangle next to the folder icon to see its content, then click on the triangle next to the project icon to see its content. Here you'll see your tracks (the icons with little midi notes in).

Now drag & drop the track in which your drum kit is from the library to a blank project and let me know what happens.

The Operator you used is hidden somewhere in there. Though you don't get an Operator license with Live Standard, quite a few Ableton and partner instruments use it packaged in an .adg, where Live Standard users can play it and use the macros defined in the .adg, but can not unfold the device area of that particular chain.

If I understand you correctly, you can open your Live Set all right, but can not resave it.

Time for some detective work:
Go to your Instrument Rack, activate both knobs for viewing chain list and view devices;
click through your chain list and if there's another chain (instrument- or drum rack) inside, do the same for those.

Any nested chain that doesn't let you view its devices contains at least one non licensed instrument or effect.

If you eliminate those, you MAY be able to save your set again. I can't promise, and you'll sure loose some of your carefully layered sounds, but it's the only way I see that'll let you go on with this set.
