What game are you playing now
Re: What game are you playing now
Some of the fights in Uncharted are definitely very hard, even on Easy mode. It was funny playing the first one and seeing how jerky the animations where. The 2nd is a HUGE step up, especially with the remastering. The nice thing is all the controls are the same among the games. The 2nd and 3rd game are definitely the kind you'll have a hard time putting down, you just want to see what happens next.
Until Dawn looks interesting, but I dont know if it would hold my attention either.

One of the nice things I like about the Uncharted Series is if you keep dying in a part they start dialing back the difficulty. I started playing the 3rd back on the PS3 but kept getting killed on the castle wall sniper sequence and that’s where I stopped.
I only made it through a couple levels on Until Dawn and one of the cool things is I guess it’s more like a TV series than a movie because they start the level with “previously” footage so you can put it down for a while and not be too confused. There were also a couple scenes when you are in a therapist’s office which is clearly setting up what is going to happen in the game. In one you are flipping through a book and have to choose which of the two pictures scare you more, ie: snake vs. needles, spider vs. gore. So obviously they are going to use more scenes featuring what scares you more.

Interesting, one of those I'll likely check out once it drops a bit in price. I was glad I got all three Uncharted for $60, I'd have felt a little bummed at how relatively short the single player campaigns were at full price. It's really well done and high quality, but 8-10 hours for $60 each is a bit much for me.

Got both the Nathan Drake collection and Until Dawn from Amazon for $35 each. I know digital downloads are all the rage right now but Sony (and I don’t know about Microsoft) rarely puts substantial discounts on their AAA titles and you can frequently find those titles on Amazon and EBay for a lot cheaper.
Most of the time I also feel $60 is a lot for a game but games are also one of the few things that haven’t adjusted for inflation and have remained at $60 for a long time.

I couldn't do it this time. I played FO3 and New Vegas, and while they were ok, after awhile I got fried on the format. Sounds like FO4 is more or less the same, which is cool for people who like the wasteland thing, but I need to skip this one I think.

It is a lot of the same in some ways, just a whole lot more.
It has the Radiant Quest feature from Skyrim so you can never run out of quests to do.
Then there's the crafting and the fact that finally every object in the world has some use and can be broken down into components for crafting and modding gear.
And THEN there's the new settlement feature which is the biggest time sink. It's like a less-involved Minecraft with realistic graphics. Build entire buildings and wall off your community complete with crops, power, water purification, etc. It's a bit a nuts really.
The game is just too much. If I didn't have things to do like work and eat I could imagine wasting away playing this game and eventually dying of starvation on my couch.

are you being figurative or literal?stringtapper wrote: It has the Radiant Quest feature from Skyrim so you can never run out of quests to do.
Re: What game are you playing now
Literally, it spawns new quests in new locations, though most are of the same "empty the keep/campsite/cave of enemies" variety.

Yep, same thing as Skyrim. Procedurally generated quests that vary by location, task, and enemy types.
I think it actually works a lot better in FO than it did in Skyrim. Probably because loot is actually useful for more than selling now.
Really can't wait to see if they use the same kind of crafting system in Elder Scrolls 6.

Re: What game are you playing now
I hate crafting in games myself. For normal things like food and potions, it's rarely worth the time. For weapons it can be useful for those godlike things people want, but usually by that point in the game I'm finding sick stuff anyway.
I don't know, I'm not one to micromanage in games I guess. I like how things like Mass Effect slowly got less cluttered in that regard.

I'm actually with you on the crafting thing. I think it's mostly that it's refreshing to see after all of Bethesda's other RPGs had random crap you could pick up that had no use whatsoever. Now everything can be broken down into something you can use in either crafting or modding weapons or in building settlements. For me it's more the settlements. Being able to create your own post-apocalyptic fortress is pretty cool.

My friend estimates he’s spent the better part of 80 hours just building his little compound on Fallout, and still going.
Unproductive distractions come in many forms. The robots won't have to be evil to take over the planet. It will just happen because we aren't paying attention.

Elder Scrolls got me tired of having to manage my inventory - it was always full... So I just dipped back to Destiny.

I hear that. If I find one more broken rake or vial in Witcher 3......stringtapper wrote:I'm actually with you on the crafting thing.
