1 file with 3 loops - edit?

Post by liftoff » Tue Jan 12, 2016 1:28 am

Hello! I have one wave file containing 3 different drum loops that don't start/stop in time within the file. It's one file with 3 different drum patterns that have different length of silence between the patterns. When I import the wave file into Ableton, I feel like it's assuming it's 1 clip (not 3) and therefore it's not properly processing the tempo and splicing. I need to take the one audio file and trim it into 3 separate clips/samples. Can Ableton do that, or should I use another program to crop it into 3 different loops BEFORE importing to Ableton? I am new to Ableton Live and I have the Push 2. Any advice from you lovely people is greatly appreciated! :)

drag it into the arrangement view, command + E is split, make splits at the beginnings and ends, slide each to begin on a measure line; move warp markers down below in clip window to line up with beats, back above in arrangement again on one clip at a time highlight a length of time from beginning to end (take whole measures if going to loop) , control click on each and choose consolidate

now you'll have three new clips

what did I forget?
