randomise claps
randomise claps
Hi,
i want to randomise claps positions to make them make them sound more human.
I tried using grooves but they tend to only affect the positions between kicks and snares and not the actual snare positon which i need for this.
Any suggestions?

Re: randomise claps
Resample your claps, so it has a small silence in the beginning. Then, automate the start point, or drop a M4L Lfo to modulate it.
OR
Resample X times your clap, with different amounts of silence and different starting points.
Drop them all in a instrument rack within the drum rack, give them all a one-note zone. Re-pitch them accordingly to their relative position to the C2 or whatever note slot in the drum rack. Drop a Random midi effect before, adjust the range and sub/bi/up parameter to match the number and disposition of your claps.

Re: randomise claps
Load a standard quantize groove. Turn down quantize and turn up random. 1/32 results in slight randomness, while 1/4 results in a bit more.
Note: the clap must be playing in its own MIDI clip. In a Drum Rack clip, all sounds are affected by the groove.
I know some people prefer loading samples directly into arrangement view. What you can do, is simply consolidate all the claps (ctrl+j), and apply groove to the clip.

Thanks! That last one worked
Re: randomise claps
Is there a way to randomly change pitch aswell?
i dropped the 'pitch' module under midi effects at the beginning of my clip but it doesn't do anything.. it mutes the sound completely.

Re: randomise claps
you could put claps through a wet delay and using a random lfo mapped to delay time so that the claps are delayed randomly 1 to 10ms.
could use another random lfo to change pitch transpose semi tones

Randomly changing pitch for each MIDI note in Simpler:
Go to "Controls" tab, choose random waveform, set it to the slowest value, activate "R" (retrigger).
