Cool idea but I couldn’t find any references to how this works with Logic other than a handful of complaints saying it no longer works after a recent Logic update. The developer said they are working on it and then fell off the planet after November.Machinesworking wrote: As a pay back in case you haven't demo'd it etc. check out Track Spacer from Wave Factory. To my ears anyway, a much much better approach to sidechaining bass and kick. Using EQ instead of gate or compression to duck bass makes a ton of sense to me, your ears are pretty good at discerning different competing high frequencies, but low is best if it can be on it's own.

Logic as you might have noticed is a pain in the ass for any bussing or MIDI routing plug in. <-- it's a reason I put up with DPs mediocre looping features. That said the developer says they have a beta available, wouldn't call that falling off the planet just because someone posted right below them about how the non beta version isn't working.beats me wrote:Cool idea but I couldn’t find any references to how this works with Logic other than a handful of complaints saying it no longer works after a recent Logic update. Anyway it works fine here, and there's a demo so hey.
Re: Proudly collecting music gear and software for no purpose
It’s telling that you quickly found the same and only reference I found about it working (not working) with Logic. And as you mentioned, routing can be a pain in the ass in Logic so I always worry when there’s no instructions on this from the developer or users. I’ll have to give the demo a try.
Sidechaining in Logic just sometimes involves too many steps because it can only sidechain from an audio track for some stupid reason. If it’s a MIDI track you have to also route it to a bus track and then sidechain from that. Maybe Apple will finally fix this when nobody gives a shit about sidechaining anymore which has only been a staple for home EDM producers for about 9 years now. So I’m sure that fad is about to come to an end any day now.

Logic is just painful for serious audio work now, I hate to say it. Plug in handling while mixing is just too slow now, I find it so unintuitively done. The way they implemented warping and such is nice, but the core editing and mixing functions seem slower to me now. Maybe I'm just used to Studio One more now, I don't know.
Just ordered and Octatrack tonight, time for some hardware live set fun time.
Oh wait, I guess that's not "no purpose".

On the lines of using gear, but gear lust in general:
You guys may want to step away from Logic and Studio One by this summer! DP9 free update coming promising 4X better CPU performance than another popular DAW (Logic). They're getting ridiculous Kontakt counts, 16 instances loaded with 16 instruments, at buffer settings of 64!
It seems to work by some sort of behind the scenes freezing of any track that you're currently not working on, so I wouldn't expect Ableton to adopt it anytime soon, but Logic and Studio One developers will be trying to copy it if it's anywhere near as efficient as MOTU claim. Anyway if anyone is interested here's the press blurb.

Yes, watched the DP Namm event video, looks promising, I have tempted a few times to GAS up to ver 9, and pick up a new motu audio interface! Have you been going strong still with DP? I remember you at motunation back in day...Right at version 5, I discovered live and took a detour, still have never upgraded. Dp was my first DAW, (ver 2.7), and I have nothing but fondness for it.Machinesworking wrote:On the lines of using gear, but gear lust in general:

I've been working in DP more than Live lately. Live seems to be going in all these different directions, at the moment it's just not doing it for me.aisling wrote: Yes, watched the DP Namm event video, looks promising, I have tempted a few times to GAS up to ver 9, and pick up a new motu audio interface! I upgrade to v5 from 2.7.
Like all big DAWs it really comes through when you have a comfortable grasp of key commands you use all the time, so that being true it took some ignoring the wonders of Session View and diving in to get a workflow. Even as it stands DP9 outperforms Live in terms of the amount of VSTis you can run, so that was a huge point for it, obviously that gap is going to get a lot bigger by June. I wouldn't doubt MOTU's 10X claim in comparison to Live.
So yeah I'm getting this update for free, MOTU didn't really add anything fun to v8, but the initial v7 upgrade was meh, until six months later and they dumped a bunch of god stuff in. This one if it's relatively bug free can't be beat though. I'll definitely be working in DP and ReWiring Live in. I'll try not to bitch too much on the forums about how M4L doesn't function when Live is rewired to a host.
Re: Proudly collecting music gear and software for no purpose
iZotope just released a 64 bit version of their Vinyl plugin. Fuck yes!! Not only did they not make a 64 bit version before but I think they completely killed it off for a while which was quite upsetting for a lot of people including myself. There’s really nothing else out there comparable for easily adding vinyl noise and emulating old recordings. Key word “easily”. Don’t prattle on about some overly elaborate multi-plugin work around.

Forgot to mention its free

From the description
Key Features
• Warp: Choose the amount of warping and the warp shape for the record—from no warp to totally melted and warped edges.
• Dust: Simulates the amount of dust that has settled on the surface of the record.
• Year: Models record players from different decades using filter responses.
• Wear: Simulates the effect of a record that's been played too many times, from brand new to a few thousand spins.
• Mechanical Noise: Adds turntable rumble and motor noise.
• Spin Down: Simulate the sound of slowly stopping playback of a record, modulating both playback speed and frequency

Played a bit with Vinyl last night. Expect a lot of my tracks to feature samples and loops from dusty and warped 1930’s and 50’s vinyl, except they’re not.
