Yes, definitely could use some improvements. I was hoping they would fix the minor bugs in 9.6.

I just started a post about this and then found this one.

I want a mixer view that would live in the clip view/ device view area.....more or less like Logic does.

Floating window version would be cool too.

Hello! I didn't look at the last date of the last post from this thread, but I've always utilized Ableton (since version 2.5 or 3.something?) as an instrument, but it's grown into soon much more over the years I'd love to give Digidesign, (wait Avid.....) the boot and complete all my final mixes / stems in Ableton now. Not saying you can't. We all know you can, but I'm so used to having a dedicated mix window. I went from Session 8, where I would sync Emagic Logic 2.5 for midi, then Logic audio rocked for a while until Apple destroyed it. Especially the environment window, turned it into Garage band.... /cry, but in the end I've always stuck with mixing in Pro Tools. Call it what you will. it's all the same except the pan laws might be different, but I'm in the market for a mixing window. I'd do Mixbus, but I really don't want it. I'll keep running my buggy version of PT, or use my friends TDM system if I have to, but Please Ableton!!!! You can Do it!!!!

For those who grew up with tape! It took me a while to average around -12 compared to making a mix tape in the analog world, and everything I've read about the Utility plugin to Dmixer all seem to have flaws. I also checked out Maxforlive.com and there are too many complaints about the mixers users have made.

It's just really nice to see faders, what plugins are on the tracks, all my aux channels and plugs, and master fader plugs. I'm on a mac and really don't want to spend any more money on new software, nor take the time to learn a new DAW, as I'm very happy with the Live suite, but my Pro Tools drop downs are blank now.... still functioning, but blank....

I too think an updated mixer would be nice. Actually the only thing I miss is the possibility to see all inserts on all channels, like it is possible in so many other DAW's. My idea: Make a button, that changes the clip view from displaying clips to displaying the fx-inserts. The layout could stay the same but instead of the clips, we now see the inserts. If you click on an insert, it automatically jumps to the device and channel you clicked on. Would be an easy way to incorporate the "pro-tools"-way of seeing your inserts, without adding another window or making the gui unnecessarily complicated.

Horses for courses...I hate floating windows, esp. when using a laptop. This is one of the main reasons I chose Live in the first place. I also use Cubase for some things and the multiple windows are incredibly annoying to me.

It would be nice to have the mixer visible in arrangement mode, though.

A reasonable compromise would an option to detach the mixer like in Reason.

Cubase can get unruly quickly in that regard, but i still love the floating mixer and transport... especially while i'm recording other musicians. it really helps me dial in on the task at hand - which can be different every time... or even during the same session.

what i'd like to see in Live is a breakaway mixer. so that IF you want to float it you can, but IF you do not... you just leave it as is and as it has been since the beginning.
