Live 5.0.2b4! Next Beta of upcoming bug fix update!

Hi folks,

we just uploaded a beta version of the upcoming bug fix update Live 5.0.2.
This Beta is free for every Live 5 user.

Current version: Live 5.0.2b4
Expire date: 2005-09-13

This versions has also some limitations:
- No manual is included
- No content is included

This version has enabled our bug reporter.
You will notice it when restarting Live after experiencing a crash.
Furthermore the Windows version has additional debug code to dump
information into the log file. Therefore the Windows version is a bit
slower as the final version (something between 5% to 15%).

When starting live 5.0.2b4 for the first time it should open the Beta lesson
which also contains the change log.

Live would truncated names of sounds folders of sets with names longer than 24 characters.

[05] Bug: Offset of unlinked envelopes

When dragging the left edge of a looped arranger clip to the left, we move the start markers of all unlinked envelopes to the left by the same amount; however, if this causes the start marker to pass the loop start, it got stuck there. We now wrap it around correctly again.

When moving the loop to the right, and the start marker is inside the loop, we move the start marker to the right to fold it into the new loop again. If this causes the start marker to end up to the right of the end marker (which is not allowed), we move the end marker to the right. Before this update, we used to move it only as much as necessary, i.e. it would end up 1/16 to the right of the start marker, which feels strange; we now move it all the way to the end of the clip, so that it is out of the way.

I don't know why the fuck I'm sending bug reports, they're not looked at and stay from version to version

to be fair, I'm sure they are categorized and solved as they are able to (heh, able-to...n heh).

Anyway, it looks like the beta/fixing process is starting up again.

Yes, works so far, I think they fix what they can for now.

Chris, what does not work for you?
I´ve a recorded 2 hours set from saturday with disappeared clips in arrangement,while playing the set it was ok.

The red dot is only there until reverting (you have to revert a few times occasionly) while warping (a mess now

), havent meet it yet in other situations.

"we noticed your problem, but we are not able to fix it at this moment, we're working hard on this problem to get it fixed in a future release"..

did Ableton asked you to issue this statement ?

yet acknowledgement of recurrent bugs would go a long way, but no such things.

common chris, we know you're upset, but don't get mad for no reason.

i mean, i prefer ableton to spend their time correcting bugs instead of replying to individual e-mails.

they could make an automatic answering system, but what would be the point then?

you know they hear you, they hear us, they've proved it more than necessary.

so have a bit of patience, all will be well, and keep on reporting, that's the best thing to do instead of whining.

hmmm...looking at the list of bugs they've fixed, apart from the MP3 dropout fix, they're all easy2fix bugs that were in the way unnecessarily and Ableton most probably decided to get rid of them before concentrating on the more serious issues.

Also, bear in mind that post-5.0.1 release, Windows users that have been having problems or encounting bugs, did so on a release version hence with not as much debug code Ableton would include on a beta version that automatically log crashes/problems that they then receive.

With this new Beta, they're hoping people would now get the same problems on a version made to capture these problems, hence giving them a better view on the problem(s).

I dont know how things work Mac-wise. Oh of course, Macs never crash/have problems and bla .... bla ... bla.

I think that, unless you're a coder, you cannot define what's 'easy2fix' or not..
