Clips won't work through set

Post by Pheek » Thu Sep 08, 2005 12:53 am

Hi,

I just returned from a live set that had problems. I played for 2 hours, some mp3 at the beginning then I played my regular set that usually go well. About at 3/4 of my set, some clips start to not work. I could see the little pie chart spin and the I could see the clip playing but no sound would come out. I checked to see if I put an enveloppe and no, that was not the problem.

I continued playing and then realised that all clips from a specific column (column #5) would not work at all! I check to see if it was muted or if there was an fx on it, but no, still not. So I tried playing the clips in another column but the clips weren't working still... THEN column #6 stopped working as well...

At that point I went soooo minimal, that I had to stop. :?
Anyone has an idea?
Please help, I have a gig tomorrow again. I'm nervous...

thanks,

p.

Hi Pheek,

what exactly do you mean with "not working"?

1) When the clip was visually playing (referring to the spinning pie chart), was there a level visible in the level meter in this track?

2) Does the track contains a certain Live effect or a third party plug-in? If yes, which one(s)?

regards,
Alex

Thanks for answering.

answers:

1- as described above, I mean there is no sound playing at all. No meter but the pie chart was rolling. I even tried to put another clip from another column into the silent one, no help.

2- No effects. As I said, I triple-checked the first column and when the second column stoped playing, no effects there as well.

another hint, before the problem started to occur on column 5, the clips in there either would be stuttering in the first 1/3 of the clip or be silent. Ex: the first 1/3 of my hihat clip wouldnt play.

Hope this gives you more details,

thanks for alll your help,

jp

ps. I played my second gig, all went fine but I'm really wondering what the bug was.

I think maybe its in the same vein. Very odd and frustrating. Although, what's weird in my case, I was unable to reproduce the problem which is scary, meaning the problem could happen again in middle of another set.

Hi Pheek,

so far we were not able to reproduce this problem?
Does it still happen for you in Live 5.0.2?

Alex

we've run into the same issue on pc over here.

5.02b8 - delta 410 pci. win2k.

1) Clips suddenly become silent after playing for some time. MIDI or audio data. The set needs to be fully stopped and started again.

2) MIDI keyboard being played routed live and into hardware stopped working. that is, live stopped outputting the midi input. A full stop and start fixed this again.

That was not quite the problem. It was more complex than that but it seems the update fixed it. I played with it last night and did my soundcheck today, all seems to work perfectly. Good job Alex!
