Audio Latency in Live
Audio Latency in Live
Hey guys
I am having a strange issue with ableton where a blank new project with 1 VST has no latency, yet a more constructed song has noticeable latency.
Is this to do with ableton or a plugin somewhere? Ive turned off everything on my master and the issue persists.
Im using a 6 core i7 pc with 32gb ram so power shouldn't be the cause, im rarely ever over 15% CPU!

What are your buffer settings in Preferences > Audio and what MIDI gear are you using?Infernouk wrote:Hey guys

Re: Audio Latency in Live
Could be a plugin adding latency. This was just recently discussed in another thread and from what I understand if you switch OFF a plugin it does not remove the delay you have to actually remove the plugin completely.
If you hover your mouse over the title bar of a plugin and observe the lower left of Live (the bottom info bar) it will tell you the current delay of a loaded plugin. Something I did not know until a few weeks ago.
EDIT: Other forum link incase it helps

Re: Audio Latency in Live
As already said, it could be plug-in related. Some plug-ins, esp. convolution reverbs oder spektral effects, have a higher latency.
Re: Audio Latency in Live
I think its ozone on my master that does it, even when turned off it creates latency!

I think this is by design, otherwise delay compensation would have to recalculate every time you turn off and on a plug-in or device.jestermgee wrote:Could be a plugin adding latency. In the linked discussion there's this great link: Latency Compensation FAQs. Useful reading.
