My UAD-1 plugins are using alot of CPU in live 5 when there not supposed to.
Example i use a NI FM7 and hit 1 Key and my CPU is 3% , if i add a Plate 140 reverb to the FM7 my CPU jumps to 13%.
i should only be getting about a 4% CPU hit for the plugins GUI load and i/o load
Anybody else noticing this

yeah me 2! dont have the plate tho (wish i had damn its nice). dreamverb makes
it jump 13% and nigels like 25%. dont know if this is ableton or UADs fault.
have u tried to work with uad on other applications? and if so how is the cpu jump there.?

I use the UAD-1 in cubase sx3 and it works flawless , so this looks like it may be an Ableton issue.

PS the plate 140 is well worth the money , its my Goto reverb nowadays...

Hi cane creek,
does it make a difference when you change the plug-in buffer size?
regards,
Alex

changed my soundcards buffer size from 512 to 256 and now im only getting a 1% CPU hit when adding a PLATE 140.
1% Hit is normal for UAD-1 plugins.
Played 1 key on the FM7 got a 4% CPU hit then added 3 PLate 140's and only got a 6% hit

Yeah, try playing around with the plugin buffer sizes. I have mine set at "As Audio Buffer". Like I said, I only use up 1% per plugin.. even if your using reverb you shouldn't be going past 1-2% cpu as the whole point of the uad-1 is to offload processing. hehe

So all seems fine in uad-1 land now? Been taking a good look at the Studio Pak and def. getting a slight moistening at the corners of the mouth!

Go ULTRA-PAK because i can promise you'll end up buying the other plugins and will save money in the longrun.
i live in the uk but bought one of my UAD-1's from the USA and saved alot of money , i got it from
JRRshop , Jrrshop is a very popular shop for UAD-1 users.
Heres the

Thaks cane creek, I'll have a look for sure. If you get a second card you can run all the plugs from the first card on the second too, correct? ie If you got an UltraPak then a ProjectPak you'd essentiallyy have 2 Ultra Paks ??

yes thats correct you can run all the plugin's on both cards , its quite clever as your PC/mac just see's the 2 cards as 1 Big card.
