My desktop is 3yrs old, running Windows 8.1 (Audio did not work last time I upgraded to Windows 10) Intel Core i-7 3770 processor, 8GB Ram, 1 TB hard drive. Currently I have Live 9 Suite with Komplete 9. Now that I want to upgrade to Komplete 10 Ultimate, I'll need another 330GB. So....
1)Is it best to get an internal or external hard drive to run all the NI stuff? For that matter is it best I move Live to the new hard drive also?
2) to upgrade RAM, do I go up to 16GB or 32GB?
My rig runs pretty well, as I have turned off most of the background stuff per the NI guide to optimizing PCs for audio, although loading sets with 10 or more tracks can take a minute or so.
The CPU meter sometimes approaches 30%
Thanks in advance!

1. It is usually better to go internal vs external. That said if you go USB 3.0, it's bandwidth is probably fast enough where you won't notice a big difference. If you have the money though, I would consider an SSD drive. Komplete 10 Ultimate has some large libraries which can make it slow when loading instruments. SSD will make this alot faster. 7200 drives where considered fast like 10 years ago but are pretty slow now compared to SSD. Hard drives are actually one of the bottlenecks in speed now regarding computers and SSD speeds up performance considerably.
2. 16 Gigs would probably be sufficient. That said I've heard people with 16 gigs say they have ram issues. I've had 16 gigs on my previous computer and I don't recall having RAM issues, but it is usually always better to have more Ram and not need it than to not have enough and really need it. Probably look and see what Ableton recommends that and add to what Komplete Ultimate recommends to get a good idea. Honestly once I got over the 4 GB hump, I think I stopped having issues where Ram was the problem.
