A couple questions.
1) How do I “nudge” an audio track in arrangement view?
2) After I use the master record and start recording some of my Session clips into Arrangement view and stop the recording. I go back to Session view and play a clip but it starts up the master time which triggers the Arrangement view beginning to play in the timeline. I just want to hear my session clip and then add it where I desire in the arrangement view after working with it. I don't want to hear what I've already recorded in Arrangement view. I want them separate even after building something in Arrangement view. Possible?

By nudge you mean move it slightly along the timeline? Try select the clip in the timeline and use the arrows to move. Zoom in further to make movements less drastic. You can also increase/decrease the grid and just drag it to lock it to a grid. Hold ALT (I think from memory on a PC) while moving to disable grid lock for small adjustments1) How do I “nudge” an audio track in arrangement view?
When you play (a clip or via transport) it plays the arrangement timeline. If you have recorded material in the timeline but wish to go back to Clip view and silence the timeline simply press the "Stop All Clips" button which is found as the stop button in the master channel at the bottom of the clips. This will stop all tracks then you can start playing clips (you will note that the tracks are now greyed out in arrangement)2) After I use the master record and start recording some of my Session clips into Arrangement view and stop the recording. To switch back to arrangement press the subtly labelled button "Back To Arrangement (BTA)" in the transport section of the toolbar.
You can also set a loop in a position of your arrangement you want to try and improv or test ideas with. Play it then stop any channels you don't want to play. Create your clips and play them along with your looped position then simply hit REC to layer them into your arrangement or just drag them from clip to arrangement.
I'd spend some time getting acquainted with how all that works because it's very flexible.

@jestermgee- thank you. That was very helpful for questioning #2. But for nudging (which I do in Logic and can set in a dizzying number of incriments) I cannot get your suggestion to work. I click. I double click on my track in the timeline and arrows (I am on a Mac) just undo the election. No movement of the track.

Re: Two questions about Arrangement view
Mate, I have a feeling you can't do that in Ableton - silly I know, it would be super useful. Jester's trick works if you're editing the clip and focusing on the piano roll, but after some poking around I don't think you can nudge clips (audio or midi) in the arrangement view. That would be super-useful.jetjaguar wrote:@jestermgee- thank you. That was very helpful for questioning #2. @shiftgordon- thanks man. I was pretty certain that was the answer based on my research but @jestermgee sounded pretty certain of it. I agree it is a functionality that one would think would be present in a DAW as sophisticated as Live. I'm still hoping @jestermgee or someone else has an answer.
