Post by gertwynens » Wed Sep 07, 2005 8:43 am

On opening Live 5.0.1 as rewire slave to cubase sx 3.1, I get : "Live will not behave normally rewired to .. blabla" - does anyone else have this problem ?
Cheers

Hi gertwynens,

when this message box appears, Live is not called from the ReWire host properly.

Can you provide us with some ore details about your system?
- Which is your operating system
- Do you use other ReWire slaves

Alex

I'm on Windows XP (HE), and I also use Reason 3.0.4 as Rewire slave under Cubase SX but not together with Live. This was not a problem before installing Cubase SX 3.1 so chances are it is Cubase-related.

What Live says, exactly, on trying to open it as Rewire slave is this :
"Detected problems with the Rewire master application. Live will not behave correctly. Please refer to the Ableton support website ... etc. "

Thx.

Hi gertwynens,

so you start Cubase, activate the desired Ableton channels there and after that you start Live and get the error message?

Hi gertwynens,

please search for a file called "ReWire.dll" on your startup partition.
Normally it is located in: "C:\Windows\system32"

Please check the product version of this file (right mouse click -> Properties -> Version -> product version).

Alex

Hi gertwynens,

I'm really sure you will have such a folder. Be sure you make system folders visible too not only hidden folders.
Or make a complete search on all disk for "ReWire.dll". if this file would not exists at all you would never get any ReWire slave application to work.

I know, I know .. There SHOULD be such a folder - but all my folders, also system folders, are set to SHOW CONTENT and yet there does not seem to be such a folder on my hard drive ???? Very strange indeed. The search function can find neither a system32 folder OR a ReWire file on my computer although, as you say, it simply HAS to exist. Damned machines !!!!

Got it !

Well,
I found the ReWire.dll !! The Cryptainer program shows the system32 folder (I SWEAR I could NOT get Windows to show it, NOR its content, by making system folders visible in the folder options :!: )

Anyway, it's version 1.5.2.89.
Maybe that helps ?

Cheers.

gertwynens,
...it's version 1.5.2.89.
The version seems to be up to date.

Please check if the "Release ASIO Driver In Background" option within Cubase is disabled (unchecked).
Start Cubase and uncheck "Devices --> Device Setup --> VST Multitrack --> "Release ASIO Driver In Background"

Eraldo Bernocchi,
which version of Live do you use and and which ReWire host application?

gertwynens,
good to know that it works now(apart from the fact that I could have thought of this earlier)

Eraldo Bernocchi,
I do not have a Mac version of SX 3.1 here at my place..Could you look if also the Mac version has a similar option to "Devices --> Device Setup --> VST Multitrack --> "Release ASIO Driver In Background"? I think it even has the same name but I'm nit sure...

Alex
