How to audio out without delay

Hey guys,

I've got a few synth and drummachine here. They are all connected via midi to my computer but all the sound goes though my Mackie Vlz4 1604 mixer then through my Motu Mk3.
I would like to be able to Audio Out a loop from Ableton to my mixer so I can use my external effect that are connected to my mixer on the loop.

What I did is that I put 2 cable out from my motu to 2 channels in on my mixer. I put a loop on a channel on Ableton and put Audio Out 7/8 so I can get the sound on my mixer. It's working fine but there is a slight delay. I've got no idea how to fix that? is there maybe a better way to do it?

There will always be 'some' delay. But there are ways to minimize delay.

Examples are, turning off unused inputs and outputs in Live's audio preferences.

Checking to see if any vsts introduce a significant amount of delay (try the same routing on a blank set and see if the amount of perceived delay is the same)

I think if you turn automatic delay compensation 'off' it might help, but that tip I'm not positive about and could be completely wrong.

Check your buffer settings on your audio interface and see how low you can get away with. It is recommended to turn on the artificial CPU level in preferences to a high amount while the test tone is on while changing it to see if you get any crackle. You really do not want to be experiencing crackle during your set, so even after you reduce it, put your set through the paces and an overall stress test because it could sneak up on you and make horrible clipping noises.

All the inputs and outputs that are unused are off. I do the test on a new project so there is no vst or whatsoever. Where is the "automatic delay compensation" option? My buffer is at 256 samples I did the test before it's the lowest I can go. I've got no problem with crackle noise.

It's weird because if I use the "External audio effect" It will sync with Ableton properly and I will be able to use the effect that are connected to my mixer but because I will use "Audio From" the main output of my mixer all my other gears will be out of sync. But if I do like I said before only the loop will be out of sync.

So Method 1 : I open a new audio channel on Ableton, I put my loop in there, on the I-O I put "Audio To" the correct Output of my soundcard that goes to 2 channel(L-R) of my mixer then back to my soundcard through the main outputs of my mixer. I open a new audio channel on Ableton and On The I-O I set the correct inputs from my mixer. So everything is sync apart from the loop that I'm trying to process.

Method 2 : I open a new audio channel on Ableton, I put my loop in there, Then I put "External Audio Effect", I select the correct "Audio To" and "Audio From", because there "Audio From" is the output of my main mixer I can hear all my other gears. The loop That I'm processing is sync with Ableton but all my other gears now aren't sync...

I don't really understand how it works.
