He has Rahzel beat (pun). Raz haz a wide assortment of vocal soundz (vocoder type stuff) but the technical skilll is ALL about Mohammed.

That is all.

wow, i would agree if the only rahzel stuff i knew was that horrible solo album...

but have you seen him live? or heard the badu routine he does? (if your mama only knew...)

it's on rob swifts soulfull fruit record..

he's fuckin incredible.

I'm not saying this other cat, Kenny is bad. In fact, I think, he's pretty good. However, technical skill does not equal good, AND on the technical skill side, notice how he drifts off from the orchestra towards the end of that first movie? not good. He get's props for stamina and consistent sounds, but I dunno, i'd have to hear some more stuff to be convinced of him measuring up to rahzel.

of course, this is all just opinion, and none of it is as good as RUSH!!! ;)

(yes, i really don't like rush, and i really don't think neil peart is a "great" drummer.)

okay...maybe I'm completely sheltered against a swathe of beatbox talent out there - I admit I'm completely ignorant of it, I just saw that video and was pretty impressed by it.

Man, that is the most refreshing original collaboration ive seen in the longest time maybe since the golden age of hip hop. Man that shit was phat. I dont know how that idea came up but that was pure genuis at work. Upmost originality. Mad applause from me.

yo, say what you will about the conceptual nature of the video, but Kenny Muhammed is one of the best beatboxers alive, and makes Rahzel look like a fucking cattle caller.

I saw Kenny solo open for Beans and Prefuse and he made both of them look like SHIT. Also, he kicked a schmuck Boston promoters ASS, one that everyone knew deserved it, so he has earned ALL my respect and more.

You haters Dont EVEN know.

You are a philistine. Rush is BY FAR the best rock band EVER ASSEMBLED.

They pack coliseums worldwide to this day, not even the stones can do that.

I dare you to see Rush in Rio and say anything bad about them.

yeah, no doubt about the skills of Muhammad. no doubt as well he must have earned quite a bit of money playing the fool in a smoking. i don't blame him, but i think it could have been done much better with a better score.

it reminds me of the albums charlie parker recorded with a string orchestra. the idea is good but the result sounds cheesy. i love charlie parker though.

to broaden the subject a bit, i think mixing strings/orchestra with other stuff is rreally difficult, and i haven't been convinced very often.

I like the statement it makes though - what appealed to me about it was that he was treated as an instrumentalist, rather that singing tenor he was playing percussion with his body and I love the modern approach that any manipulation of anything at all to intentionally make musical sound should be treated as music and someone who is skilled at it is a musician, and that guy was definitely skilled.

i watched the vid on humanbeatbox.com.
for sure, kenny muhammad is very good, but common, rahzel is up to par.
i mean, when he manages to do drums, bass, scratches, voice and trumpet at the same time it's f*cking amazing. i've never heard his records, but saw him a couple of times live and i can assure you he is incredible.

well, i realize there's no point in comparing, but i just can't let you minimize rahzel's talents (and he's never played with some "classical" orchestra  ).

You wont have to let anyone minimize anything, once you see Kenny Live.

Your mind will be changed.
