Hello,
I want to know if it is possible to make a high quality audio track by only using the stock instruments and effects provided in ableton live. I try. But never achieve that high quality sound. I've been feeling low because i have not been able to make any progress with my music production in Ableton Live. Plus i don't trust downloading cracks (although i don't mind giving them a try now). Everybody must know how expensive it is to keep buying music software/hardware. So has anybody done it with the help of ableton live, good pair of headphones and a sound card?
Please! Somebody inspire me!

"Expensive" instruments does not necessarily = a high quality sound. Live's instruments are some of the best sounding integrated instruments in a DAW that I've used, you just have to get creative. Try layering up instruments and seeing how they sound together. Create sounds, split them into different frequency bands, process separately then stick them back together. Just experiment.
Also Live's effects are perfectly useable and I reach for them in most cases other than for reverb, distortion and a couple of special Plugin Alliance utilities I have. You even get an SSL bus compressor!
So I'd say keep working on production and focus on making music. The skills will come with time and practice, the tools are definately up to the job

Hi!
How long have you been producing? Or even better, how many tracks have you completed?
Can we listen to some of them?
I own some great third party software and my tracks still sound like shit.

LIie Lojik said, make music and learn by doing. That's how you get ahead. It doesn't matter what you use really, it's what you actually produce that counts. In what environment were Techno and House born for instance? Out of an environment with limitations. Accept the limitations you currently have and work with what you got. Simplify and focus on what you hear.billz270 wrote: Please! Somebody inspire me!
Put in the hours actually making music. You don't become successful just by watching tutorials or reading books and sites so that doesn't count even if you might need to do that occasionally. How much is up to you. If you want to get a feel for how to just using Live instruments Tom Cosm has a little series: Ableton Live Sound Design Course I found inspiring. But nothing beats experimentation and getting under the hood of each instrument you use. Focus on learning one instrument inside out. Get deep!
There's plenty of great and good third party instruments and effects that can help you make wonderful music right now. There are actually no excuses not to keep producing, unless you're ill or something.
Finish composing a completed track quickly and move on to the next one. If a finished track sounds like crap some weeks after not having listened to it, put it aside like an idea.
If you like your composition as it is set up a mixdown session for it. If the result of this turns out well make mastering session later or even better give it to a pro for mastering and put it out yourself or send it/them to a label. If sending it out make some research about the labels and don't send blindly.
Keep doing this! If you have completed composing 100 full tracks you're just beginning.
Make some music!
