Where the consolidate files goes?

Hi, I've got an SSD in my computer. So I only installed ableton on the SSD. All my Packs and samples or plugin are in my other hardrive.
I am doing a lot of sampling so what I do is :
I go through a few vinyl and record it to ableton
I put them in the right tempo through the warp thingy.
After that I consolidate the whole part that I like and I drag it to an external hardrive.
But I found out by consolidating samples it's taking space on my SSD somehow? Why? When I consolidate a sample does it go to my C:??

You'll find a Processed -> Consolidated Folder folder structure in the project file. Assuming you saved the project first, all your consolidations will be there.

Yes, but like I said, I keep everything on the other hard drive. So The only thing that's on my c:(SSD) it's ableton the program. The packs, the samples and my ableton project with everything I recorded or consolidated. Is on my F:. So I don't know why it's still taking space on my C:.. I even did a search for a consolidate folder on my c: it doesn't find anything.

As Tarekith said, it's inside your project's (or Set, if you prefer) folder > samples > processed > consolidate

Yes, I know it's in there... But my project is on the F: Hard drive. But for some unknown reason when I consolidate something it's still taking space even on my C:.. I don't know why it does it and can't find it anywhere on my C:.

How do you know it's on C if you can't find it there?
In Live you can right-click your (consolidate) clip and select "show in finder/(whatever it's called on windows)"

check out the File and Folder preferences in your Live preferences. maybe the space is being taken up by temporary files or cache...

There we go it's the cache!!! thx fishmonkey! 20 gb of cache for a poor 128gb of SSD jesus.. So now.. how the cache works? Because when I consolidate I put the consolidate file straight away to my external hard drive. So basically I don't really need those cache right?

Anyway I transferred them all to my external hard drive because I was too scare to delete them but yeah in what way are they useful those cache? Can I just delete them?

5.2.1 The Decoding Cache

The cache is for the decoded twins of compressed audiofiles, which Live won't process directly. You're not trying to consolidate mp3s, are you? Else the cache size should not be related to consolidating.

But it gets used for any compressed audio you import anyway. So either dumb its maximum size down or move it to an existing directory on your F:-drive in that same dialogue.

Read again: "the decoded twins" - of course these are lossless, but that's not your question, I assume.

If you're working with lossless source material, there's no need for decoding, and no copies of that will ever go to the decoding cache. Again: consolidating as such is not responsible for any disk space taken in the decoding cache.

And since you're worrying about SSD space, just make a directory on your HDD and move the location of the decoding cache there.
