midi mapping and and saving to ableton with alesis vi61

hi,
just got an alesis vi61,,,so i can manually map buttons etc but how do i save them so that when i open a new file i can simply use the same mappings,,,?

and whats the point of saving a preset on the keyboard if i cant use it in live
