How do change the pitch without changing tempo of a sample?
Hi guys,
Just like it says, how do I change the pitch of a sample without changing the tempo. I want to chop up vocals and create vocal chops like here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WY4kYdZ0tvY) and make a melody and cool pattern but when i drop it in a sampler whatever one i use and input the midi, the higher the notes the more chipmunk everything sounds. I know it can be done on other software like on the above link or even this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-O38h1fts4
The more convenient the better, I want to be able to use a sample and input it as midi so when i pitch it up its not chipmunk
Can I do this in Live?

As yur2die4 suggest this is very possible in Simpler of Live 9.5 and later. You could also use audio clips and warping. Sometimes that's much more convenient.Shane Collins wrote:

It doesn't work in simpler? If you use simpler and input midi notes, the higher the note the more chipmunk it sounds and thats the problem.Stromkraft wrote:As yur2die4 suggest this is very possible in Simpler of Live 9.5 and later. Have you tried different warp modes? And adjusting Formant in the Complex Pro warp mode?

That might well work but if you think about what im trying to do. Vocal chopping, that would be very time consuming and unintuitiveyur2die4 wrote:Have you tried different warp modes? And adjusting Formant in the Complex Pro warp mode?

Are you using Simpler or Sampler? Make sure it is Simpler. If you consider that difficult, you should consider a different hobby.
Experiment.
Edit: also consider that it's easy to make a slice-to-drum rack preset

That's simply because you're doing it wrong. You haven't even said what version of Live you use, but it doesn't sound like you're using 9.5 or later. Good luck.Shane Collins wrote: If you use simpler and input midi notes, the higher the note the more chipmunk it sounds and thats the problem.

it will still sound chipmiunk like...if you turn up the pitch..it just will be t the same tempo....you cant do it sampler, only simpler, just turn the transpose knobShane Collins wrote:Hi guys,

I know this is an old post but I was led here when I needed help with this issue.
