Wav files or Packs Pros and Cons

Post by Rookie10321 » Sat Jun 18, 2016 8:49 pm

Hello,
I'm new to Ableton Live. Bought the Standard version. I am wondering what the pros and cons are of turning my wav file samples into Ableton Live packs? Does the file size change or anything significant like that which would enhance my creative flow if I made packs and kept my wav files on another external drive and just stuck with the packs?
Thanks

Packs get unpacked into wav/aiff files and presets.

I don't see an advantage to packing them if they'll be unpacked again.

I think it'd be handier to put files into packs for sending to others, or for keeping as personal storage for specific projects. But in general, I think packs are best used as a transfer between people (like when you download packs from Live, it is very convenient instead of downloading hundreds of wav files and presets and telling the presets where to find the wav files, etc).

I am sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Yur [pun intended] absolutely correct.

A user genrated alp is just a zipped project folder.
