Royalty Free

Post by naomifix » Sat Jun 25, 2016 4:22 am

Just got ableton for the first time, I have no idea what producing is like other than when the internet didn't exist and I made cd's of me and my guitar. I've been recorded with cubase for a demo but no idea what went on in the process other than sitting and playing/singing. Just downloaded a wav from Black Octopus Sound, it's free. Am I allowed to use this in my own music? Do I have to credit them? http://blackoctopus-sound.com/free-downloads/

any help counts thank you

I'm gonna guess at yes mate - I think you'll be fine. Took a look at their site - couldn't find any weird legal lingo. You might wanna take a screenshot just to show he sample was on the free part of the site, but I'm sure you'll be okay mate!

Usually they'll specifically ask for credit of its necessary. Welcome to Ableton, by the way!

So, I only have like an hour or two a day for music, and I am mommy and nanny so always tired. But I've managed to make some progress, now I am trying to figure out this plug in folder because so many tutorials these guys pull out amazing synth sounds from a plug in sort of thing. I don't want to make the same mistake I made, I bought a pack or something somewhere in the excitement and got nothing but ripped off. I like ableton and I'm happy on it as is, do I need plug ins? Did I (or my son) install at the wrong bit (32/64?) and the plug in aren't showing? Ableton Suite is amazing. I just don't want to waste a minute of my free time if I don't need to, I've been reading and watching tutorials every minute I have free. And I've made like 4 bars of a song lol.

By the way, thank you Black Octopus, I'd invest in you any day if I knew what I needed. I'm actually making kids music, but dance music so progressive trance pretty much. With fun vocals and sound effects...and monsters, dragons and magic.
