Session view clips record starts at funny bar numbers?

Post by UshMurr » Fri Aug 19, 2016 12:24 am

Hi there,

Pretty new here with Ableton and Push 2, getting on pretty good so far :D

I'm having problems though when i record midi into clips in session view. I create a new 4 bar clip , hit record and get a 1 bar count in but the midi info starts recording at bar 2 or bar 4 for some reason.
I'm sure it's something pretty simple but I can't figure it out why its doing this!!

Can anyone shed some light on this please?

Thanks

Probably due to fixed length being active, it will set the clip start relative to the arrangement.

Great for punch ins not so good for simply recording session clips at a fixed length....

Hi,

I tried turning fixed length off but still doing weird things. What's happening now with fixed length off is when i hit record on push 2 i get a 1 bar count and i start playing but it doesnt record the first bar.

When I hit the master transport stop button and the arrangement is at bar 1 beat 1 then it will give me a 1 bar count and record properly.

It does seem to me that when recording the clips are tied to the arrangement bars and beats.

I have the Global quantize set to 4 bars as all my clips are 4 bars long.

Sometimes when I have a clip playing and I hit the play button on the next clip in that track it plays the first beat or two of the first clip before jumping to the second clip!!

Also i'll be working away and after cueing a few clips my drums will be a beat out.

I'm sure i'm just missing some basic understanding of Live but any pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks

take a look at the 9.7b5 release notes, looks like this is fixed now.

Old thread, but I'm having the same problem and it's driving me crazy. I have Live 10.1.25 on Mac os Mojave. Any suggestions?
