CPU spikes playing back automation

Post by jamesway » Fri Dec 09, 2016 3:16 am

I can manipulate the hell out of a custom max for live patch at around 3 percent cpu, but as soon as I record any automation of the TWO parameters exposed to Ableton the cpu spikes to near 90 percent. Even stepped drawn modulation does this, even though I can feed the same patch nice smoothed signal speed floating point curves within MAX. You lost me Ableton, goodbye.

Various free vsts including synth1, Ms pinky, custom patches, etc. Everything I have ever made in max does this now. My 5 year old simple patches do this, even if the automation is on/off.

are you on L9.7?

for me the older versions of L9 had some bad CPU spike issues, they only really cleared up around 9.5 and 9.6
