Live 4 lite

Post by robert che » Sun Sep 11, 2005 8:28 pm

Hi,

I have purchased a midi controller and it came with Live 4.0 light.

The button for me to program my midi controller is not available. The only area I can find is the key assignment button. The Medi assignment key is just not there.

Did this version only have key select? I have also looked threw the manual before I posted. I am stumped. My midi is set up correctly as well.

Thanks,

Che

Hi,

Thanks for the response. I bought the M-Audio Oxygen 8 midi keyboard. Like I was saying there is no feature for midi mapping.

I want to upgrade to 5 soon. I have been using the demo and it is very nice. I would like to record and do somethings on 4 before really committing.

My live is version 4.0.4 lite for M-Audio. This came with the keyboard. I upgraded to 4.1.4 lite via the web site. Everything went well with the upgrade.

Please let me know what I should do.

Best,

Che

Hi robert che,

the Live Lite for M-Audio version has several limitations. One of them is the MIDI-Remote feature which is not contained in this version.

In the Live 5 demo you can try out everything, you can record files too but you you cannot save a Live set.

Thanks Alex for the quick response. I am going to order live 5 Friday. It is an amazing application. I don't have to tell you that though.

Cheers!

Sort of bizarre you can't use the midi remote feature with the bundled Oxy8 knobs!?! Any buy Live5, you won't be disappointed!

This is right but not directly on our ends. Because we build a certain Lite version for a a certain company. With which products then again this version is bundled is a decision of the company.
But better a Live Live version without "MIDI remote" as no Live version at all :)

you have a point Alex.

This version of lite allows me to upgrade to 5.0.

Will the version of 5.0 I upgrade to allow me to control my Midi devise???

The version my serial number says that I can upgrade to is Ableton Live 5.0 Special Version. Again will this version have midi mapping???

Thanks again for the response guys.

Hi robert che,

when you upgrade to Live 5 you upgrade to the full version of Live and this version has of course the MIDI Remote feature.
But before you buy you can try out Live 5 by simply downloading the Live 5 demo www.ableton.com/downloads.
The demo version allows everything but saving.

Alex
