Hi Michael,

The two terms to search for in the manual are "Session View" and "Arrange View"

Basically when you hit record what you jam with in Session view records into the Arrange view and it's from here that you export your final recording...

thanks again, I got it working! everyone was acting like I was asking them to explain the physics of a black hole. which made it harder to figure out the solution. so I appreciate the simple explanation
